To Your New Career Breakthrough,
NYC Career Coach
I have five questions for you that I want you to really consider:
- Is your job using your best skills and talents?
- Is your job interesting and fulfilling?
- Does your job give you the income and lifestyle you want?
- Do you want your boss’ job?
- Are you proud of the work you do?
If you’re like many of my clients, you answered no to many – or maybe even all -of these questions. And the reality is that you are in the wrong job and maybe even career.
Many people who are in the wrong job and career resist making a change and often wait until all options are exhausted. They avoid dealing with reality.
I can assure you that if you resist dealing with reality long enough, a backlash will be inevitable. The truth is often delivered by life as a blunt and painful experience…
Our best skills and talents become weaker and outdated. We get frustrated and lose self-confidence. We get stuck and miss opportunities for personal and professional progress. Eventually we might get a bad performance review or even lose our job.
At first, the reality of our situation nibbles at us. Then it bites us. And wait long enough, yes sometimes destroys us.
Refusing to see or acknowledge and deal with what is right in front of us is a way of coping but in the end you will not thrive.
To create and have a satisfying and fulfilling career, we can’t evade reality and hope for the best.
We have no choice but to see and embrace the way things actually are, to accept the need to make a change, and to take action.
The acceptance of your reality moves you closer towards your goals. Ignoring your reality moves you ever farther away.
Denying reality for any reason leads only to stress, frustration, and making bad decisions. Denying reality WILL NOT help you move forward in your career.
Career progress demands that you have an honest relationship with your situation,
Your New career breakthrough challenge for today is to ask yourself what reality are you not facing at work?
Make that truth your friend, because accepting reality is vital to achieving the career success and satisfaction you want.
In closing, always remember that with right knowledge, strategies and effort you can attain an exciting career that you’ll enjoy, excel in and pays you well.
